UHEAA is a Utah state government agency and part of the Utah System of Higher Education (USHE) acting under authority delegated by the Utah State Board of Regents. UHEAA is governed by a 13-member board of directors and the Commissioner of Higher Education in Utah.
UHEAA has been in operation for 40+ years to assist students and their families in preparing, planning, and paying for college.
UHEAA has a track record of achieving and maintaining some of the lowest Cohort Default Rates in U.S. History through their customer service, outreach, financial literacy education, and default prevention efforts.
In 2010, UHEAA became a not-for-profit (NFP) student loan servicer for the Department of Education. UHEAA created the CornerStone® brand as its federal student loan servicing identity. As a federal direct student loan servicer, UHEAA strives to provide the best customer service to student loan borrowers throughout the country.
Through its outreach campaigns UHEAA was able to achieve one of the lowest number of delinquencies among the NFP servicers; over 84% of those borrowers are now current on their student loan payments as of September 2017. Furthermore, UHEAA achieved the top servicer rating among all student loan servicers, including the four Title IV Additional Servicers (TIVAS).
